A DUI conviction during your college days can alter your life

On Behalf of | Mar 31, 2017 | Drunk Driving

Most college students spend the majority of their time attending class, studying and thinking about the future. However, this doesn’t mean they never look to have a good time.

Unfortunately, there are situations in which students make mistakes. An example of this would be somebody who has too many drinks and then gets behind the wheel.

There is nothing worse than the thought of being pulled over and arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. If this happens, you can see your life changing right before your eyes.

While this is a serious situation, it doesn’t signify the end of your life. There are steps you can take to improve your circumstances and put this in the past with minimum damage.

Keep this in mind: The police will more than likely report the DUI to your college. For this reason, you’re at risk of: expulsion, suspension, losing your scholarship or being kicked out of student housing.

In addition to the punishment by your school, you could also be subject to a license suspension, fine, community service and/or jail time.

Fortunately, just because you are arrested for DUI doesn’t mean that you will be convicted. With the right defense strategy, you may be able to avoid a conviction and all the trouble that comes along with it.

Since a DUI conviction during your college days can change the course of your life, you don’t want to take this lightly. Instead, you need to understand your rights and do whatever it takes to avoid the most serious consequences.
