How do you know if someone is driving drunk?

On Behalf of | Oct 24, 2016 | Drunk Driving

As a driver, you do your best to avoid dangerous situations. However, there’s one problem with this: You never know what the other drivers are thinking or doing.

Fortunately, there are some steps you can take to determine if somebody may be driving drunk. Consider the following:

— Quick accelerations, such as when pulling away from a stop sign or traffic light.

— Tailgating others.

— Weaving in and out of traffic.

— Driving extremely slowly.

— Almost hitting another object, such as a curb, parked car, or moving vehicle.

— Drifting in and out of the lane of travel.

— Driving without headlights during the night hours.

— Straddling the center line.

— Driving on the wrong side of the road.

— Driving the wrong way down a one way street.

If you see somebody doing these things, there is a good chance that he or she is under the influence of alcohol or drugs. For this reason, you should do two things:

— Keep your distance to avoid an accident.

— Contact the authorities so they can get the person off the road.

Many people do their best to help make the roads a safer place. Unfortunately, this can lead to a situation when a person calls the police and provides inaccurate information.

If you’ve been pulled over and charged with driving under the influence, if you did not commit this crime, you must learn more about your legal rights in California. There’s no good reason to give in and take your punishment when you know that you did nothing wrong.
