What is the best drug possession defense strategy?

On Behalf of | Apr 28, 2017 | Drug Charges

If for any reason you are charged with drug possession, it’s imperative to immediately look toward the future.

When doing so, your goal is simple: to learn more about the defense strategy that can help you escape the most serious trouble.

Since no two people are in the exact same position, the drug possession defense strategy that you use may not be the same as somebody else with a similar charge.

Fortunately, there are many strategies to consider:

— Unlawful search and seizure. Did police break the law when seizing drugs, such as by breaking into your trunk during a traffic stop? If so, the drugs cannot be used as evidence in a court of law.

— The drugs did not belong to you. Although you may have been charged with drug possession, you can always defend yourself by saying that the drugs belonged to somebody else, such as a visitor to your home.

— Entrapment. This is when an officer prompts a person to commit a crime that he or she would not have committed on his or her own.

You will never know what type of drug possession defense strategy suits you best until you review each and every option.

Since you are in a serious situation, you should learn more about your legal rights and the defense strategy that gives you the best chance of success. You may be disappointed that you have found yourself in this position, but that doesn’t mean you should give in and “see what happens.” You have rights that need to be protected at all costs.
